Ferrum Forge

Ferrum Forge

Ferrum Forge represents the evolution of American knife-making from passionate garage project to respected industry name. Founded in 2009 by brothers Elliot and Chris Williamson in San Diego, California, the company began with a simple mission: creating superior everyday tools. Elliot handles design while Chris manages operations, forming a partnership that has propelled Ferrum Forge from humble beginnings to collaborative relationships with major manufacturers.

The brand specializes in modern folding knives and kitchen cutlery, distinguished by their commitment to premium materials and innovative engineering. Ferrum Forge consistently employs high-grade materials including titanium frames, CPM-MagnaCut steel, and carbon fiber scales. Their designs often feature advanced locking mechanisms, particularly button lock systems that have become a signature element of their folders. This attention to both materials and mechanics has earned them recognition among knife enthusiasts seeking reliable EDC options.

Ferrum Forge's collaborative approach has expanded their reach significantly. Partnerships with established manufacturers like Pro-Tech and WE Knife Co. allow their designs to reach broader markets while maintaining quality standards. The Mordax collaboration with Pro-Tech exemplifies this strategy, featuring MagnaCut steel and earning praise for its satisfying flipping action and clean aesthetic lines.

Community reception has been overwhelmingly positive. The Lackey fixed blade earned KnifeNews readers' vote for Best New Fixed Blade for EDC in 2019, demonstrating the brand's ability to excel beyond folders. Users consistently praise the ergonomic attention in Ferrum Forge designs, with customers noting how contoured scales seem custom-fitted to individual hands. This combination of thoughtful design, premium materials, and manufacturing partnerships positions Ferrum Forge as a modern American brand delivering both innovation and practicality to the knife community.
