200th Anniversary Giant
In 1816, Eliphalet Remington II founded E. Remington and Sons in Ilion Gorge, New York. The company started out as a maker of flintlock rifles and pistols, but soon became one of the most famous gunsmiths in America. In 1916, the company celebrated its 100th anniversary with the release of the Remington 200th Anniversary Giant knife. This massive knife was designed to be a working tool that could also be used as a weapon if necessary. It featured a large clip point blade made from high carbon steel, and a hardwood handle with brass rivets. The knife also came with a leather sheath for safe storage and transport.
The Remington 200th Anniversary Giant knife was an instant hit with both collectors and outdoorsmen alike. Its size and durability made it a perfect tool for hunting or camping, while its stylish design made it a desirable collector’s item. Today, the knife is still highly sought after by both groups, and can fetch upwards of $1,000 on the secondary market.
