Winkler Knives

Founded in 2004 by Master Bladesmith Daniel Winkler in Boone, North Carolina, Winkler Knives has established itself as a premier manufacturer of handcrafted tactical and field knives. What began as a passion for traditional bladesmithing has evolved into a company trusted by U.S. Special Operations Forces and outdoor enthusiasts who demand uncompromising performance in the most demanding environments.

Winkler Knives specializes in tactical knives, axes, breaching tools, and outdoor field equipment, all handmade using 80CrV2 carbon steel—a material chosen for its exceptional toughness and edge retention. Each blade undergoes meticulous heat treatment and finishing processes, including the distinctive Caswell non-glare finish that reduces reflection while providing corrosion resistance. The company's commitment to functional design is evident in their skeletonized and tapered tangs, which reduce weight without sacrificing strength, and their versatile multi-option carry systems that adapt to various operational needs.

The brand's reputation extends well beyond military circles. Models like the Forest Edge have garnered significant attention from the bushcraft community, with enthusiasts actively seeking these designs for their reliability in wilderness applications. Winkler Knives' product lineup includes everything from compact belt knives to full-sized choppers and specialized rescue tools, each reflecting Daniel Winkler's dedication to traditional bladesmithing techniques combined with modern tactical requirements.

What sets Winkler apart is the intersection of artisan craftsmanship and proven field performance. These aren't safe queens—they're working tools built to withstand batoning, breaching, and survival situations while maintaining the fit and finish expected from a master bladesmith. The company's commitment to handmade production ensures that each knife receives individual attention, resulting in tools that professional operators and outdoor adventurers alike can depend on when failure isn't an option.
